The details
NO ALCOHOL · OIL-BASED
Amaaya Chatim is an alcohol-free floral roll-on inspired by the chatim flower (Alstonia scholaris), West Bengal's state tree. Sweet, green and faintly herbal, it captures the scent that fills Bengal's air at dusk as autumn turns to winter.
Scent profile
Strong and sweet with a cool, lime-like, slightly medicinal green edge. Where other white florals are syrupy, Chatim leans herbal and resinous, closer to a leaf or resin note than a bouquet. It is the outlier of the Ghore Baire range: a green floral with a herbal-resinous character.
The story
In Shantiniketan, the university Rabindranath Tagore founded, chatim leaves are traditionally given to graduating students at convocation. The tree blooms in late autumn, so its scent at dusk has become one of Bengal's most evocative seasonal memories, of Pujo, of winter arriving, of endings and beginnings. If you try only one scent from Ghore Baire, start here.
Best moments
- Autumn and winter evenings, and Durga Puja season.
- A thoughtful gift for anyone who loves Tagore, Shantiniketan or Bengal's seasons.
- A signature scent for those who want a floral that feels literary rather than sweet.
How to wear
Chatim is a bold scent. Start with one light swipe on each wrist or at the base of the throat, on intact skin.
